Her drama teacher spotted her cutting across his lawn to try not to arrive late for field hockey practice he told she to not practice and take part in the production of Richard III and thus began her love affair with acting. Sarah chose to combine her love of acting with her education by double-majoring in English in Hamilton College and pursuing a study abroad program to London, Oxford and London during her junior year. When she graduated with a Hamilton College magnacum laude, she went on to Yale Drama School. Sarah was encouraged to study about the arts through both her parents.
